Reliable, individualized midday care that gives your dog opportunities to sniff, move, explore, and just be a dog.

A good day looks different for every dog.The difference is in the noticing
Sometimes a dog needs a lively walk. Sometimes they need ten minutes to investigate one very important shrub. Good care starts with noticing the difference.
Ways I can help
No conveyor-belt walks. No dragging a worried dog down the street. No one-size-fits-all definition of a successful visit.

A thoughtful break shaped around what your dog needs: movement, sniffing, decompression, play, or simply time to take things in.

Individualized care for puppies, adolescents, seniors, post-surgery dogs, and dogs who benefit from more than a brisk loop.

Patient, predictable care for worried, excitable, or reactive dogs. I don’t need to be every dog’s friend. My job is to be a safe, trustworthy person who respects their space and never forces the issue.
Rates
Rates are based on visit length. Medication and individual care needs are always part of the visit, not an add-on.

Hi, I’m Cara
I started The Dog’s Meow in 2017, and I’m still the person who shows up at your door. I get to know each dog’s routines, preferences, and quirks. I’ll also let you know when I notice something different.
I’m also a licensed Family Dog Mediator. That education helps me look beyond labels like “stubborn,” “dramatic,” or “bad” and pay attention to the dog’s learning, environment, genetics, and physical wellbeing.
In plain English: I’ll never expect your dog to be someone they’re not just to make my job easier.

More than getting through the day
Sniffing. Exploring. Playing. Resting. Making choices. Sometimes the best part of a visit is simply giving a dog the time and space to be a dog.

Sun’s out, tongues out.
We’ve talked a lot about dogs, but I care for cats, birds, and other small animals, too.
Why The Dog’s Meow?
You’ll know who is coming. Your dog gets a familiar person who learns their routines and quirks.
I’ll tell you what I notice. Small changes in behavior can be useful information.
I won’t force the issue. Safety, trust, and emotional wellbeing come first.
Put a little sunshine in their day!

Yes. I have a particular soft spot for dogs who need patience, space, predictability, and a person willing to listen.
No. A good visit might include sniffing, play, food enrichment, quiet companionship, or a shorter walk on a difficult day. The goal is a visit that works for your dog, not a mileage report.
I work in most weather, but safety comes first. During extreme heat or cold, heavy storms, icy conditions, or poor air quality, walks or visits may be shortened or adjusted. If conditions make travel unsafe, I’ll stay in touch and make every reasonable effort to visit, as long as I can do so safely.
Complete the contact form below with your town, your dog’s age and personality, and the days you need help. If it looks like a good fit, I’ll reach out to arrange a meet-and-greet.
